General Overview

Ahl Masr Hospital is the first and largest hospital and Research Centre for the free treatment of trauma and burn victims in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa.

Located in the 1st settlement in New Cairo district, the hospital is constructed over a land plot area of 200,12 m2, allocated by the Ministry of Housing, and a built-up area of 45,245 m2, with a 175-bed capacity.

General Overview

IC Unit

The Intensive Care Unit in the center consists of 12 beds for adults, and 8 beds for children.

The Intensive Care Unit provides medical care for victims of accidents and severe burns, which could include severe bleeding or injury to vital organs that would require being placed on artificial ventilation or constant monitoring by the medical team.

It covers a wide range of injuries and burns, particularly critical accidents and fresh burns, for all ages and all types of injuries (burns, fractures, bleeding, failure of vital organs, etc.).

The Incubator Department

This is one of the areas suffering the most from a shortage of trained staff. The department provides treatment for victims of accidents and burns from the ages of one day to one month and requires a complex combination of skills and medical equipment, and a medical team train. to the highest standards, specialized in incubators, emergencies, and anesthesia.

The unit consists of six incubators equipped to the highest standards and includes comprehensive services comprising feeding, medication, etc.

Surgery

The surgical department consists of four small operating theatres -F one large operating theatre in the Accidents Department; one large operating theatre in the Emergency Department; one large and one small operating theatre and one surgical procedures room in the Burns Unit. The operating rooms have all been equipped to the highest specifications, and implement stringent anti-infection procedures to ensure that there is no cross-contamination, whether with regard to implements or individuals. Every room is designed to closely adhere to Egyptian and international standards, with some even surpassing international standards with regard to size and equipment.

The Inpatient Department serves victims of severe burns who have already been treat. in the Intensive Care Unit as well as victims of moderate to light burns. The duration of the stay is usually short to moderate and requires less hands-on care; visits are allow. for longer periods.
